Woowa Brothers CEO Lee Gukhwan Joins the 'Single-Use Items ZERO Challenge'

Promise to Reduce Disposable Products and Increase Reusable Products

Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baedal Minjok (hereinafter Baemin), announced on the 26th that CEO Lee Guk-hwan has joined the 'Single-Use Product Zero (ZERO) Challenge.' The Single-Use Product Zero Challenge is a campaign initiated by the Ministry of Environment since February to promote environmental protection practices in daily life and spread an eco-friendly culture. Participants pledge to reduce the use of single-use products and increase the use of reusable containers by posting on social networking services (SNS) and nominating the next participant.

CEO Lee joined the campaign upon the recommendation of Job Korea CEO Yoon Hyun-jun. He nominated CEO Jo Sung-woo of Uisikju Company, which operates the non-face-to-face mobile laundry service 'Laundrigo,' as the next participant.

CEO Lee said, "A habit as simple as using reusable cups in the office can make a significant contribution to protecting the global environment," adding, "We will continue to practice environmental protection activities within the company and strive to create an eco-friendly delivery culture through the Baemin app."

Baemin is undertaking various efforts to spread an eco-friendly delivery culture, including reducing the use of single-use products. First, the reusable container delivery service areas are continuously expanding. Currently, Baemin's reusable container delivery is available in 10 districts of Seoul, 7 areas in Gyeonggi Province, and some parts of Incheon.

Also, the 'No Need for Disposable Spoons and Forks' option, first introduced by Baemin in April 2019 as the delivery industry's first, currently has about 27.77 million participants. It was found that this option helped reduce approximately 26,000 tons of greenhouse gases last year alone.
