Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the ‘2023 Gangnam Festival’ from October 5 to 9 at Yeongdong-daero, the COEX area, and Maru Park in Gaepo-dong.
The ‘Gangnam Festival’ is a global festival that consolidates K-Culture, recognized worldwide, as Gangnam’s cultural tourism resource. Six programs will be presented: ▲Opening Ceremony ▲Gangnam Fashion Festa ▲Maru Park Green Concert ▲Yeongdong-daero K-POP Concert ▲International Peace Marathon ▲K-Culture Stage with a Gourmet Journey.
Opening musical performance on a grand stage surrounding the large COEX LED screen on the 5th
The festival will open with the opening ceremony held at the COEX K-POP Plaza from 7:00 to 8:40 PM on the 5th. The opening ceremony will showcase the festival’s slogan ‘Paint The Future’ through a four-act musical performance. The dazzling performance tells the story of a girl from Gangnam’s future who travels through time to find her lost dreams. Yoon Se-yeon, along with Na Tae-joo & K-Tigers, Oh My Girl, La Poem, and Gummy (pre-performance) will appear as the girl. Using the large LED screens around COEX, the stage will be produced with vivid media effects, creating a three-dimensional and magnificent spectacle.
On the 6th, Byeolmadang Library transforms into a runway! See Gangnam fashion at the Fashion Festa
The Fashion Festa will be held at COEX Byeolmadang Library from 5:00 to 9:00 PM on the 6th. The schedule includes Daily Mirror & Vegan Tiger (5 PM), Beyond Closet (6 PM), Kwak Hyun-joo Collection (7:30 PM), and Lee Cheong-cheong & Zhan Hong (8:20 PM). Comedian Jang Do-yeon will host, and 100 professional models including Lee Ki-woo, Han Hyun-min, and Kim Jin-kyung will participate. Rapper BewhY will also perform, making it a dynamic and energetic fashion show. Additionally, a hologram fashion show showcasing the history of Gangnam fashion from its beginnings to the present will be featured.
On the 7th, ears moistened by Sung Si-kyung’s sweet voice... ‘Maru Park Green Concert’
The ‘Maru Park Green Concert’ will continue from 7:00 to 9:30 PM on the 7th at Maru Park in Gaepo-dong. On an outdoor stage harmonizing with the beautiful autumn night park, Sung Si-kyung, Guckkasten, Park Hye-won, Lee Chan-won, and Kim Feel will perform live concerts covering ballads, rock, trot, and more, appealing to all generations.
On the 8th, a mega concert to meet top-tier idols ‘Yeongdong-daero K-POP Concert’
The mega Hallyu concert ‘Yeongdong-daero K-POP Concert’ will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on the 8th at the special stage on Yeongdong-daero (from the south end of Yeongdong Bridge to Cheongdam Intersection). Seven top-tier K-POP idol groups representing the genre?aespa, ATEEZ, Boy Next Door, fromis_9, NCT DREAM, STAYC, and Zico?will perform. The finale will feature a chorus song by all performers, followed by a spectacular fireworks display that will light up the night sky over Gangnam.
On the 9th, International Peace Marathon... Master Chef Food Festival, sponsors offering prize event worth 20 million KRW
The 20th International Peace Marathon will be held from 8:00 AM on the 9th along Bongeunsa-ro in front of Samsung 1-dong Community Center. Marathon categories include full course (42.195 km), half course (21 km), 10 km, and 5 km. Approximately 6,000 participants including the US 8th Army Headquarters in Korea, various embassies, foreigners, club members, and local residents are expected. Entry fees will be donated to children suffering from war and hunger worldwide and to neighbors in need in Gangnam-gu.
The event site will host the ‘Global Master Chef Food Festival.’ Ten local restaurants, including hotels, will participate, selling hamburgers, cakes, lamb chops, sushi, and more at affordable prices. After the race, individual and team awards as well as the oldest participant award will be presented. Participants will have a chance to win prizes worth about 20 million KRW sponsored by local sponsors, including dishwashers and robot vacuum cleaners.
This is a food lover’s paradise! Experience the vibe of world travel destination eateries at the ‘Gourmet Journey’
Throughout the festival period (October 5?9), the COEX East Plaza will offer a Gourmet Journey and various K-content experiences. A food zone evoking the atmosphere of travel destinations around the world will operate, alongside diverse performances and film screenings. At the experience zone, visitors can try various K-Culture activities such as idol makeup and photo booths. Operating hours are 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM on weekends and 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM on weekdays.
