September 25, Before the Holiday Break, Visits and Greetings to Low-Income Elderly Living Alone and Multicultural Families
Seo Gang-seok, District Mayor, “We Will Continue Delicate and Inclusive Administration Ensuring No One Is Left Behind During the Holiday Break”
Seogangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, visited low-income elderly living alone and multicultural families on the 25th ahead of the Chuseok holiday to convey his regards and share warm hearts.
Mayor Seo has made expanding support for socially vulnerable groups his top priority in district administration, approving it as his first official act after taking office, and is carrying out inclusive governance that embraces those in need.
In line with this, on the 25th, ahead of the great national holiday Chuseok, Mayor Seo visited households to encourage and comfort neighbors who might otherwise be neglected and to listen directly to their difficulties.
As the first schedule of the day, Mayor Seo visited the home of an elderly person living alone, greeted them for the holiday, and checked on their health. Notably, he spent a joyful time conversing with the AI companion robot ‘Hyosoni,’ which the district had provided and was being well used by the elderly, drawing attention.
At this moment, the elderly person expressed gratitude to the district, saying, “The robot reminds me to take my medicine like a grandchild, so I feel less lonely and it helps me a lot in daily life.”
Next, Mayor Seo visited a multicultural family in the area, checked on their living conditions, and inquired about their well-being. For the migrant woman unfamiliar with the holiday, he explained the meaning of Chuseok in an easy-to-understand way, and they shared a warm conversation looking through the children’s photo albums and talking about their studies.
After the visits, Mayor Seogangseok said, “During the Chuseok holiday when economic difficulties and loneliness increase, I hope it will be a warm holiday where people pay attention to and practice sharing with marginalized neighbors.” He added, “At the district level, we will continue to carry out meticulous administration that carefully addresses the concerns of residents to create an inclusive city where no one is left out.”
