Daesun Public Interest Foundation, established by Daesun Brewery, a representative local company of Busan under BN Group, held the ‘2023 18th Daesun Social Worker Awards’ ceremony at 2 p.m. on the 25th.
The awards ceremony, held at Daesun Brewery’s Gijang factory, was attended by about 100 people including Cho Seong-je, chairman of the Daesun Public Interest Foundation, and other related personnel.
This year, a total of 67 social workers were selected for the Daesun Social Worker Awards: 40 from the Busan area, 20 from the Ulsan area, and 7 from the Gyeongnam area. Awardees will receive plaques along with special overseas training programs in Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand, worth a total of 100 million KRW.
The Daesun Social Worker Awards is a social contribution program jointly conducted by the Daesun Public Interest Foundation and social worker associations in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam since 2007.
The award was established to encourage social workers dedicated to vulnerable groups and the public interest in the region and to contribute to providing improved welfare services.

Cho Seong-je, chairman of the Daesun Public Interest Foundation, said, “I hope the Daesun Social Worker Awards become a valuable opportunity to renew the body and mind of social workers who have devoted themselves to the health and well-being of local residents.”
The Daesun Public Interest Foundation is Busan’s first private public interest foundation, established in 2005 by Daesun Brewery, a local company celebrating its 93rd anniversary this year, as part of its ESG management to fulfill social responsibility.
Since 2007, it has selected 775 social workers from Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam and supported them with a total of approximately 1.23 billion KRW. It has also continuously carried out social contribution activities in various welfare, education, and cultural fields, including free meal services for underprivileged groups in the local community and scholarships for university students majoring in social welfare.
