Korea Expressway Corporation announced that it will open a 2.65 km section of Expressway No. 400, the Metropolitan Area 2nd Ring Expressway, connecting Ansan-si and Siheung-si in Gyeonggi Province, at 5 p.m. on the 25th.
This section is a newly constructed four-lane route connecting the Pyeongtaek-Siheung Expressway Namansan Junction (Seonggok-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si) to the Sihwa Interchange (Jeongwang-dong, Siheung-si), which began construction in 2018. The total project cost was 197.7 billion KRW.
With this opening, the travel distance from Seonggok-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si to Jeongwang-dong, Siheung-si will be reduced from 9.4 km to 3 km, shortening by 6.4 km, and the travel time is expected to decrease from 18 minutes to 2 minutes, reducing by about 16 minutes.
Additionally, traffic volume that was concentrated at the existing Pyeongtaek-Siheung Expressway Namansan Interchange will be dispersed, and the movement of cargo in the industrial complexes in the southwestern metropolitan area will become smoother, expected to save 12.7 billion KRW annually in logistics costs.
A representative from the Expressway Corporation said, "We hope this will contribute to exchange and economic development in the southwestern metropolitan area," and added, "We will continue to strive to meet customer expectations through the construction of premium expressways."
