A 9-ton motorboat carrying one person sank near Suudo, Jindong-myeon, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, at around 11:29 a.m. on the 24th, prompting the Coast Guard to conduct an emergency rescue operation.
According to the Changwon Coast Guard Station on the 25th, the motorboat driven by Mr. A departed from Judo Port in Jindong-myeon for leisure activities when the power suddenly went out in the nearby waters.
After confirming the power outage, Mr. A urgently requested rescue as water began flooding the engine room. Upon receiving the report, the Changwon Coast Guard advised Mr. A to wear a life jacket and dispatched patrol vessels, the Changwon Coast Guard rescue team, and the Gwangam Police Substation coastal rescue boat to the scene.
Upon arrival, the Coast Guard rescued Mr. A, used a bilge pump to remove the seawater from the boat, and towed the motorboat back to Judo Port.
A Changwon Coast Guard official stated, “The rescue request for the flooded vessel was made at an appropriate time, allowing for a swift rescue,” and added, “If you encounter an accident at sea, do not hesitate and report it immediately via emergency call.”
