Seongdong-gu Chuseok Comprehensive Measures Implemented: 24-Hour Disaster Safety Situation Room Operation and Enhanced Park Trail Safety Patrols from September 25 to October 4... Price Countermeasure Situation Room Operation and Abundant Traditional Market Chuseok Events... Free Public On-Street Parking Lot Access for Convenience Provided
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) is implementing a comprehensive Chuseok plan to ensure that residents can have a safe and warm holiday during the traditional Korean festival.
From September 25 to October 4, the district plans to carry out thorough and meticulous measures across six key areas including safety, traffic, daily life and price stabilization, welfare, and establishment of public service discipline.
This year’s Chuseok comprehensive plan focuses especially on safety management by operating a 24-hour disaster safety control room to prevent accidents through intensive monitoring of closed-circuit television (CCTV). A separate park patrol team will be organized for mountainous parks and walking trails to strengthen patrols twice daily, in the morning and afternoon. Additionally, pre-safety inspections will be completed for construction sites and hazardous facilities.
The public health center’s screening clinics will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. even during the holiday, and the health center’s consultation call center will respond to emergencies 24 hours a day. Vulnerable groups will be closely cared for to ensure a warm holiday with neighbors during the Chuseok holiday period. Meals such as lunchboxes and side dishes will be provided to seniors and children at risk of missing meals. Furthermore, through services like the pre-holiday ‘Early Care Service’ and ‘Check-in Day’ before and after the holiday, the well-being of vulnerable residents will be regularly checked and care will be strengthened.
In particular, to ease the burden caused by soaring prices this Chuseok, a ‘Price Special Measures Situation Room’ will be activated to monitor price trends of agricultural and livestock products and daily necessities, and to receive reports of unfair trade practices such as hoarding and collusion. Also, Seongdong Love Gift Certificates worth 12 billion KRW will be issued twice before Chuseok, and events such as giving Onnuri Gift Certificates at 11 traditional markets will be held to revitalize the local economy and reduce shopping costs.
To minimize inconvenience during the Chuseok holiday, residents’ voluntary large-scale cleaning will be conducted by neighborhood to create a pleasant environment. Parking enforcement around traditional markets and stations will be relaxed according to traffic flow, and public roadside parking lots will be open free of charge from the 28th of this month to the 4th of next month, providing convenience to visitors and residents of Seongdong-gu.
Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “We will strengthen inspections and patrols to thoroughly prevent disasters or safety accidents during the holiday period and ensure that no residents suffer damage.” He added, “We will also focus administrative efforts on caring for marginalized neighbors and spreading a culture of sharing so that residents can have a safe and warm Chuseok holiday without any gaps.”
