Geumcheon-gu to Host the 10th Disability Rights Film Festival at 6 PM on the 21st, Featuring Awards for Disability Rights Contributors and Films on Disability Rights and Social Activities
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that on the 21st at 6 PM, the 10th "Disability Rights Film Festival" was held at Geumnarae Central Park in collaboration with the Geumcheon Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities.
The Disability Rights Film Festival has been held annually since 2014 with the aim of improving residents' correct awareness of disability and human rights. It screens films that view the difficulties and discriminatory elements experienced by people with different types of disabilities from a human rights perspective.
First, at 4 PM, the barrier-free film "Sonagi," which supports audio description providing sound information such as dialogue and music, was screened. Afterwards, Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, presented certificates of appreciation to three residents who contributed to disability rights.
Following this, films on the themes of disability rights, independence, and social activities?"Between Exclamation and Question Marks," "Seonghyeon and Jeongmi's Wise Independent Living," and "Sprint"?were screened consecutively. About 100 residents, both with and without disabilities, attended to watch the films.
Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, "The Disability Rights Film Festival is a meaningful event that can improve the rights of persons with disabilities through the medium of film," and added, "We will strive to make Geumcheon-gu a place where 'difference' does not become 'discrimination' and where there is no division between persons with and without disabilities."
