The Mapo Police Station in Seoul arrested a man in his 20s, identified as A, on the 23rd on charges of sexually assaulting a woman and fleeing from an unmanned photo studio near Hongik University’s busy district.
According to the police, A is accused of strangling and sexually assaulting a victim who was intoxicated and asleep at around 8:30 a.m. the previous day inside an unmanned photo studio in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, before fleeing the scene. It was determined that A committed the crime inside the photo studio, avoiding the eyes of passersby.
After receiving the victim’s report, the police analyzed nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to identify the suspect. Approximately 12 hours after the crime, at around 8:30 p.m., A was urgently arrested on a street in Ojeong-dong, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi Province.
The police are currently investigating the detailed circumstances of the case.
