Yeongyang-gun Rotary Club Holds Campaign to Attract Pumped Storage Power Plant

Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor Oh Do-chang) held a relay campaign to attract a pumped-storage power plant on the morning of September 22 at 8 a.m. at the Yeongyang-eup Registry Office intersection, jointly organized by the Pumped Storage Power Plant Attraction Committee and the Yeongyang-gun Rotary Club.

The Yeongyang-gun Rotary Club, an international service organization, has been actively supporting various causes such as sponsoring facilities for the disabled, donating rice to vulnerable groups in the area, and providing scholarships worth 4 million KRW. Recently, they also contributed to the flood recovery efforts in Yecheon.

The Rotary Club, which has continuously engaged in various community services, greeted residents on their way to work early in the morning, hoping for improved livelihoods of vulnerable groups if the pumped-storage power plant is successfully attracted.

If the pumped-storage power plant is established, approximately 50 billion KRW in regional development support funds can be secured, along with an annual local tax revenue of 1.4 billion KRW. In the long term, through the development of complex tourism resources, it is expected to contribute to revitalizing the local economy and support the overall economic life of vulnerable groups within Yeongyang-gun.

At the event, Governor Oh Do-chang said, “I would like to express my gratitude and apologies to the Rotary Club, who always step forward whenever there are difficulties or areas where the county government’s efforts fall short, and I ask for your continued support in the future.”
