"'Seven' Dominates Billboard Global Song No.1 This Summer"
Jungkook of the group 'BTS' has been recognized as the Pop Star of the Year in the United States.
On the 20th (local time), The Hollywood Reporter, an American entertainment media outlet, announced its list of 'The Hollywood Reporter’s 25 Platinum Players in Music,' and Jungkook was the only K-pop singer to be included.
'The Hollywood Reporter’s 25 Platinum Players in Music' is a list compiled annually by The Hollywood Reporter, selecting 25 artists who have defined the year in music based on various charts and top industry figures. Jungkook was selected alongside global artists such as Beyonc?, Taylor Swift, and Drake.
The Hollywood Reporter commented, "Debuting and promoting as a solo artist after being part of a global group is not easy. However, Jungkook has continued that transition and has done it well."
They also highlighted Jungkook’s first official solo single, "Seven (feat. Latto)," which topped the Billboard main singles chart, the 'Hot 100,' stating, "'Seven' achieved great success worldwide, reigning as Billboard’s No. 1 global song of summer 2023," citing this as a reason for Jungkook’s successful solo career.
Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter noted, "Previously, Jimin reached No. 1 on Billboard’s 'Hot 100' this year with 'Like Crazy,' and BTS 'brothers' such as V and Suga are also enjoying success," shining a spotlight on the individual activities of BTS members.
Jungkook will perform as the headliner, the first Korean solo singer to do so, at the '2023 Global Citizen Festival' held in Central Park, New York, USA, at 5 a.m. KST on the 24th. The concert will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the '2023 Global Citizen Festival.'
