Harim's HMR Products Praised on SNS
Vice Chairman Jung is a Celebrity with 810,000 Followers
Jung Yong-jin, Vice Chairman of Shinsegae Group, highly praised Harim's home meal replacement (HMR) product 'The Meesik Yunijajangmyeon' and recommended trying it.
On the 20th, Vice Chairman Jung posted a photo of Harim's 'The Meesik Yunijajangmyeon' product on his social networking service (SNS). He wrote, "Don't ask questions, just try it once. It's art," adding, "It's neither refrigerated nor frozen, but shelf-stable."
The Meesik Yunijajangmyeon is an HMR product launched by Harim in April last year. The retail price for a set of two is 7,980 KRW.
The Meesik brand was launched by Harim in October 2021, debuting in the market with 'The Meesik Artisan Ramen' at the same time. The brand has released products including ramen, jajangmyeon, instant rice, and soups, stews, and hot pots.
However, contrary to Vice Chairman Jung's high praise, the 'The Meesik' product line has been criticized for being relatively expensive and has not achieved significant success in the market. 'The Meesik Yunijajangmyeon' is priced more than twice as high as premium products from competitors such as Jinjajang and Jjawang.
On the 20th, Vice Chairman Jeong Yong-jin posted a photo of Harim's "The Meatsik Unijajangmyeon" product on his social networking service (SNS). He then wrote, "Don't ask questions, just try it once. It's art," adding, "It's neither refrigerated nor frozen, but at room temperature." [Photo by Jeong Yong-jin, Vice Chairman of Shinsegae, Instagram @yj_loves]
This is not the first time Vice Chairman Jung, who has about 810,000 followers on SNS, has promoted food products. Especially known for his special affection for Nongshim on SNS, he posted a photo of Nongshim's limited edition product 'White Chapagetti' in June, saying, "It's art when you add a piece of meat."
Meanwhile, on the 21st, Shinsegae Group carried out a sweeping personnel reshuffle, replacing 40% of the heads of its affiliates, including Emart and Shinsegae Department Store. The industry views this as a disciplinary move due to deteriorating business performance. Kang Hee-seok, CEO of Emart and co-CEO of SSG.com, who was known as "Jung Yong-jin's man" and trusted by Vice Chairman Jung, also stepped down.
Along with this, Shinsegae Group also reorganized its structure and introduced an integrated CEO system. The number of CEOs was reduced by six. Han Chae-yang, CEO of Chosun Hotel & Resort, will lead Emart along with Emart Everyday and Emart24. Son Young-sik, who was promoted to president of Shinsegae last year, handed over his position to Park Joo-hyung, CEO of Shinsegae Central City.
