Domestic Release One Month After Series Launch
Top 3 Mobile Carriers Begin Pre-Orders One Week Before Release
Apple's latest smartphone, the iPhone 15 series, will land in South Korea on the 13th of next month. This comes one month after the series was first unveiled at Apple's new product launch event on the 12th.
On the 22nd, a telecommunications industry insider stated, "The new product lineup including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, Pro, and Pro Max will be released in South Korea on the 13th of next month."
Accordingly, mobile carriers such as SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus plan to start accepting pre-orders from the 6th of next month, one week prior.
On the 22nd, Apple will launch the iPhone 15 series first in over 40 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, China, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, and Mexico, followed by a second release on the 29th in 21 locations such as Macau, Malaysia, T?rkiye, and Vietnam. In other words, South Korea's release date is three weeks later than the first release countries and two weeks later than the second release countries.
Until now, South Korea has mostly been classified as a second or later release country whenever a new iPhone product is launched. The only exception was when the supply of the Plus model in the iPhone 14 series was delayed last year, resulting in a simultaneous release with the first release countries on October 7th. Because of this, some have raised the theory of Apple's 'neglect of the Korean market.'
Nevertheless, the iPhone 15 is expected to be very popular in South Korea as well. This is because pre-orders are strong in most first release countries, including China, where government officials have been banned from using iPhones.
It has also been reported that there is already great interest in the iPhone 15 pre-order notification event being conducted by the three domestic carriers. The carriers are running events that provide prizes and Naver Pay points to those who apply for pre-order notifications.
Additionally, considering the strong interest from iPhone-preferred customers, a midnight delivery event is planned to send the new iPhone 15 products immediately from midnight on the release day.
