Great Deals on Ancestral Rite Supplies with Discounts and Prize Giveaways at Gangseo-gu Traditional Market

Connecting Markets with 'Online Delivery Service' Platforms to Offer Discounts on Purchases
Expected to Improve Consumer Sentiment Weakened by Inflation and Boost Traditional Market Sales

Great Deals on Ancestral Rite Supplies with Discounts and Prize Giveaways at Gangseo-gu Traditional Market

Gangseo-gu, Seoul, is supporting ‘event hosting’ and ‘online sales’ to revitalize traditional markets, where consumer sentiment has weakened due to high inflation, ahead of the major ethnic holiday Chuseok.

Through various ‘event promotions’ such as discounts on ritual items and ‘online discount sales,’ the initiative aims to increase accessibility to traditional markets, boost sales, and stabilize the economy for ordinary citizens.

First, until October 1, unique events will be held at each market: Kkachisan Market, Hwagokbong-dong Market, and Hwagokjungang Market.

Kkachisan Market will hold a raffle for customers who purchase over 30,000 won from the 21st to the 22nd, awarding prizes such as sesame oil and pancake mix, essential for preparing holiday meals.

Hwagokbong-dong Market plans to hold a ‘Ritual Item Discount Event (10~30%)’ until October 1.

Hwagokjungang Market will conduct a ‘Support Event for Niche Furniture’ on the 22nd and a ‘Scratch-off Lottery Giveaway’ for customers who purchase over 30,000 won. Customers can buy traditional market products like ritual items at affordable prices and receive prizes such as scratch-off lottery tickets when purchasing above a certain amount, attracting many local residents.

Meanwhile, a ‘Special Online Discount Sale’ will also be held.

At Kkachisan Market, Hwagokbong-dong Market, Hwagokjungang Market, and Nambu Golmok Market, discounted products can be purchased through the ‘online delivery service platform’ until October 15.

Kkachisan Market and Hwagokjungang Market are partnering with Coupang Eats to offer a 4,500 won discount on purchases over 15,000 won. Hwagokbong-dong Market and Nambu Golmok Market provide an immediate 30% discount on product prices when purchasing through Naver Neighborhood Market Shopping, with a maximum discount limit of 10,000 won.

An official from the district said, “We have planned various events tailored to the conditions of each traditional market to reduce the burden of grocery prices for ordinary citizens,” adding, “We hope many people visit traditional markets during the event period to take advantage of the opportunity to purchase holiday products at affordable prices.”

According to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Small Enterprise and Market Service, the cost of preparing a Chuseok ritual table (for four people) is on average 295,939 won at traditional markets and 367,056 won at large supermarkets, showing that traditional markets are about 71,117 won (19.4%) cheaper than large supermarkets.
