Democratic Party Reports 29 Defected Votes Identified
The arrest motion against Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, was passed in the National Assembly plenary session on the afternoon of the 21st.
The arrest motion is passed if a majority of the members present out of the total members attend, and a majority of those present vote in favor.
In the plenary session that day, out of 298 total members, 295 participated in the vote on the arrest motion for Lee, with 149 votes in favor, 136 against, 4 invalid votes, and 6 abstentions, resulting in its passage.
Besides the 110 members of the People Power Party who had already expressed support for the motion (excluding Foreign Minister Park Jin), 6 members of the Justice Party, Assemblyman Jo Jeong-hoon of the Transition Korea Party, Assemblywoman Yang Hyang-ja of Korea's Hope, and independent members Ha Young-je and Hwang Bo-seung-hee, totaling 120 members, there appear to have been at least 29 dissenting votes from the Democratic Party and others.
