A Total of 179.9 Billion Won to Be Invested in 21 Districts by 2026
Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it has secured 19 billion KRW in national funds to be invested in a total of 21 project districts, including 4 new projects and 17 ongoing projects for the maintenance of disaster-prone areas under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for 2024.
The disaster-prone area maintenance projects are being promoted to minimize damage to residents from natural disasters such as localized heavy rains and typhoons caused by recent abnormal weather.
The newly selected projects for 2024 (4 projects, 23.1 billion KRW) include ▲ Maintenance of the Songgok natural disaster risk improvement district in Gohung-eup (17.4 billion KRW) ▲ Maintenance of the risk of collapse of the steep slope at Goyok 3 in Pungyang (2.5 billion KRW) ▲ Disaster-prone reservoir maintenance projects in Duwon Anyang (1.4 billion KRW) and Jeomam Hoegye (1.8 billion KRW). The county actively explained the urgency and necessity to central government agencies, resulting in the selection of these new projects.
Additionally, Gohung-gun plans to invest 156.8 billion KRW in 17 ongoing disaster-prone area projects through 2026, with design and construction actively underway.
To make Gohung-eup and Doyang-eup, where rivers overflow and lowland flooding damage frequently occurs during heavy rains, permanently safe areas, the county attracted a comprehensive flood damage living zone maintenance contest project, securing a project budget of 95.7 billion KRW (Gohung 45.9 billion KRW, Nokdong 49.8 billion KRW) and is currently designing it. To prevent safety accidents caused by the collapse of aging bridges in the reclaimed land of Haechang Bay, 42 billion KRW is being invested in construction at four locations.
Renovation work is being carried out with an investment of 11.7 billion KRW on six aging reservoirs including Dohwa Imok-dongje to ensure stable water supply, eliminate the risk of embankment collapse, and drastically improve the farming environment. Furthermore, 7.4 billion KRW is being invested in five districts including Bongrae and Jingi villages, where there is a risk of casualties due to steep slope collapses, to create a safe residential environment.
Gohung-gun plans to continuously monitor the progress of ongoing projects to ensure their prompt completion and shorten the design and administrative procedures for new projects so that the projects can be completed before any unforeseen natural disasters cause damage.
Governor Gong Young-min stated, “We will continue to make every effort to secure budgets for disaster and disaster response to create a disaster-free Gohung-gun where residents can live safely and comfortably.”
