Lotte Biologics announced on the 21st that CEO Lee Won-jik visited Lithuania, located on the northeastern coast of Europe along the Baltic Sea, to explore cooperation in the bio industry.
Lithuania, along with Latvia and Estonia, is one of the three Baltic states. Among the Baltic countries, it has the largest population and the largest land area. Recently, the government has been strengthening economic cooperation by holding national summits with Lithuania and discussing enhanced collaboration in advanced technology industries. Lithuania is an export-oriented country based on manufacturing, and domestic companies are known to use Lithuania as a foothold for entering the European market.
On the 20th (local time), CEO Lee attended and delivered a keynote speech at "Life Science Baltics" held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Life Science Baltics is the largest bio and pharmaceutical industry forum in the Baltic Sea region, hosted by the Lithuanian Ministry of Economy and Innovation. This year, about 800 participants from approximately 40 countries attended.
At the forum, CEO Lee gave a speech titled "How the Challenge of an Aging Population is Fueling the Rise of Automation and Advanced Therapies: The Case Study of Asia." The speech addressed the increasing demand for high-quality biopharmaceuticals due to the rise in incidence rates caused by population aging, emphasizing the importance of automated systems for smooth pharmaceutical supply. CEO Lee also stated plans to actively introduce data analysis and manufacturing technology automation systems for improved manufacturing efficiency and quality control.

Additionally, during his visit to Lithuania, CEO Lee met with Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida ?imonyt? and participated in the "Korea-Lithuania Bio Industry Roundtable," attended by businesspeople and government officials from both countries. A Lotte Biologics official explained, "Through CEO Lee’s proactive efforts, we established a strong foothold for cooperation between the two countries in the bio industry and had a systematic opportunity to build global business networking."
Lee Won-jik, CEO of Lotte Biologics, said, "Through this visit to Lithuania, we will accelerate cooperation in the bio industry and promote friendship, and furthermore, we expect both countries to achieve future-oriented development."
Meanwhile, on the 21st, CEO Lee is scheduled to attend "Pharma Forum 2023," hosted by German equipment manufacturer Optima, where he will exchange opinions with industry experts on the latest technological trends and prospects in the finished pharmaceutical products sector.
