'Iljuk~Daepo' Targeted for Completion by End of 2025
'Jangnok~Daepo' Compensation and Construction to Proceed Concurrently
On the 21st, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced its plan to focus administrative efforts on resolving chronic congestion sections on local roads. To this end, the city is promoting the early opening and commencement of construction for Local Road No. 329, which passes through Daepo-dong, Moga-myeon, and Seolseong-myeon, and National Road No. 70 between Jangnok-dong and Daepo-dong.
The second section of Local Road No. 329 between Iljuk and Daepo was initially uncertain due to a lack of economic feasibility according to the preliminary feasibility study. However, in April 2019, the city passed the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Central Investment Review for Local Finance on the condition that it would bear the project costs for a 1.6 km section within the same (洞) area out of the total 10.2 km project section.
Currently, for the 1.6 km section where the city is bearing the project costs, land compensation was completed by the end of last year, and construction began in April this year. The city plans to complete construction of this section by 2025, while also aiming to finish compensation early for the 8.6 km section in the Gyeonggi Province area and start construction in the second half of next year.
The city also explained that for the National Road No. 70 section between Daepo and Jangnok, which is being promoted in connection with the second section between Iljuk and Daepo, it is pursuing a plan to carry out compensation and construction simultaneously next year as soon as the Seoul Regional Land Management Office completes the design.
Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon City, said, "Since this route has been a long-standing wish of the residents, we will actively cooperate with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Gyeonggi Province to promote the project."
