30s Man Who Sold Drugs to Fallen Police Officer Detained and Sent to Prosecution

On the 21st, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul sent Mr. Moon (35, in custody) to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office on charges of selling and using drugs (violation of the Narcotics Control Act) to Sergeant A of the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency, who died from a fall in an apartment last month.

At around 8:30 a.m. that day, Mr. Moon, who came out of the police station detention center, did not respond to reporters' questions such as "Do you admit to the charges?" and "How did you obtain the drugs?"

During the police investigation, Mr. Moon is known to have denied all charges. However, the police confirmed traces of drug transactions between the two on Sergeant A's mobile phone and are tracking whether there are more individuals involved in the dealings.

Mr. Jung (45, in custody) and Mr. Lee (31, in custody), who are charged with leading the drug gathering (violation of the Narcotics Control Act) at the 14th-floor apartment in Yongsan-gu where Sergeant A fell to his death, were sent to the prosecution the day before. The police believe that Mr. Jung, a tenant of the apartment, provided the location, and Mr. Lee supplied the drugs and led the gathering.

The gathering became known after Sergeant A fell to his death from the apartment where the meeting was held at around 5 a.m. on the 27th of last month. The police have identified that a total of 22 people, including Sergeant A, gathered at the apartment. Attendees stated that Sergeant A opened the window and jumped out.

The police plan to receive the autopsy results of Sergeant A from the National Forensic Service next week to analyze the exact cause of death and whether drugs were used.
