Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do announced on the 21st that it will invest 4.718 billion KRW in 8 districts for disaster prevention projects related to agricultural production infrastructure next year.
Through recommendations to central government ministries, the county secured 2.359 billion KRW in national funds to be invested in 8 disaster prevention project districts, including disaster-risk reservoirs (2 new, 5 ongoing/completion) and drought disaster risk improvement (1 new).
The new disaster prevention project districts for next year are Daesan Hoeryong drought disaster risk improvement district, Cheongsolje in Gochang-eup, and Yonghyeonje disaster-risk reservoirs in Buan-myeon, totaling 3 locations.
A total project cost of 21.5 billion KRW was secured (Daesan Hoeryong drought district 18 billion KRW, Cheongsolje 1.7 billion KRW, Yonghyeonje 1.8 billion KRW).
The ongoing districts, Jungbokje in Asan-myeon, Jungsanje in Seongsong-myeon, and Eundongje in Gochang-eup, have completed design and are in the bidding and construction start phase, with plans to complete construction before the 2025 monsoon season.
The completion districts, Gajangje in Asan-myeon and Jangamje in Sangha-myeon, currently have a progress rate of 65% and are scheduled to be completed in the first half of next year.
A county official stated, “We will do our best to secure budgets related to maintenance projects for habitual drought areas and aging reservoirs by mobilizing all means including relevant central government ministries and the National Assembly, to prevent disasters and ensure stable water supply.”
