Production Capacity Expanded to 151,000 Units Focused on Power Semiconductors
DB HiTek announced on the 21st that it has expanded its 8-inch foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) production capacity to 151,000 wafers per month in order to proactively prepare for the market recovery period.
DB HiTek increased its production capacity by an additional 11,000 wafers from 140,000 wafers as of the end of last year. The plan is to expand production capacity centered on power semiconductors, which possess competitive technological advantages, aiming for a rapid rebound during the market recovery period.
Power semiconductors have diverse applications ranging from mobile devices, home appliances, to automobiles. They are produced in small quantities of various types, and compared to other product groups, they are stable against economic fluctuations. Due to their high resilience, they tend to respond quickly and rise during economic rebounds.
The company stated, "We made proactive investments in preparation for the semiconductor industry recovery," adding, "In addition to equipment expansion, we simultaneously carried out activities to improve the productivity of each piece of equipment, thereby expanding overall production capacity."
Through this investment, Fab 1 now has a production capacity of 91,000 wafers, and Fab 2 has 60,000 wafers. Fab 1 mainly produces power semiconductors including DB HiTek's representative process, BCDMOS. Fab 2 produces power semiconductors such as BCDMOS and image sensors.
