Apple Loses Sole No.1 in PC Category for the First Time in 20 Years

Samsung Electronics has been selected as the PC brand with the highest customer satisfaction among American consumers.

According to the '2023 Customer Satisfaction' report released on the 20th by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), Samsung Electronics received the highest score of 83 points in the PC (desktop, laptop, tablet) category.

ACSI is the most prestigious market research organization in the United States, now in its 26th year. It evaluates satisfaction by directly interviewing about 500,000 consumers annually.

Samsung Electronics' score of 83 this year is a 2-point increase compared to last year, tying with Apple. Apple relinquished its sole first-place position in the PC category for the first time in 20 years since 2003.

ACSI attributed the improvement in Samsung Electronics' score in this survey to the strong performance of its tablets.

ACSI stated that customer satisfaction with the 'Galaxy Tab' lineup in the U.S. increased by 6%, and that the high satisfaction with the Galaxy Tab series contributed to Samsung Electronics' advancement in the PC category.

Local U.S. media analyzed that Samsung Electronics' introduction of the latest hardware through the newly launched 'Galaxy Tab S9 series' in August this year, and its focus on optimizing the large-screen display, positively influenced customer satisfaction.

Global PC manufacturers Dell and HP tied for second place with 81 points each, while Lenovo, ASUS, Amazon, and Acer scored 78 points.

Meanwhile, the laptop 'Galaxy Book3 series,' released in February this year, is also receiving high praise from global consumers.

The U.S. consumer media Consumer Reports selected the 'Best Laptops of 2023' last May and revealed that Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Book3 series was named in four categories of 'Best Laptop of the Year.'

The Galaxy Book3 series recorded 2.5 times the global sales of its predecessor within one month of its release. Market research firm IDC announced the domestic laptop market share for the first quarter of 2023, stating that Samsung Electronics ranked first with 52.0% (by quantity).
