Joint Public-Private Fire Drill at Lotte World Tower

As of May this year, there are 23 buildings in Seoul that are 50 floors or higher or at least 200 meters tall. This drill is being conducted to enhance the initial fire response capabilities of occupants and prevent large-scale disasters amid the increasing number of super high-rise buildings.

About 4,000 people, including the Seoul Safety General Office, Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters, local fire stations, and residents, will participate in the drill. Nineteen fire trucks will be deployed. The drill will simulate a fire outbreak in an electric vehicle parked in the underground parking lot, covering fire reporting, suppression, and evacuation exercises. It will also include initial suppression and evacuation guidance drills led by a self-defense fire brigade composed of building managers and others.

Yoo Chang-soo, the Deputy Mayor for Administration of Seoul, said, "We will ensure there are no gaps in the implementation of disaster safety measures to protect citizens' safety from large-scale disasters."
