Operation of Shift Teams for Comprehensive Situation Room and On-Site Civil Complaints
Jinju City in Gyeongnam Province has established and is implementing the ‘2023 Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Plan’ to ensure that citizens have a healthy and comfortable holiday during the Chuseok holiday period.
From September 28 to October 3, during the Chuseok holiday, the city will operate a comprehensive situation room for the prevention of various disasters, incidents, and accidents, as well as for price stabilization and resolution of unpaid wages, and a field duty team for handling civil complaints to alleviate citizen inconveniences.
With the extended Chuseok holiday due to the designation of a temporary holiday, the city has established a comprehensive plan covering six main areas and detailed measures, including ▲prevention of various disasters, incidents, and accidents ▲price stabilization and resolution of unpaid wages ▲alleviation of resident inconveniences ▲and fostering a frugal and warm holiday atmosphere, aiming to resolve citizen inconveniences.
First, the city will conduct inspections of disaster-vulnerable facilities and traffic safety facilities in preparation for various disasters, incidents, and accidents during the Chuseok holiday. It will also carry out road maintenance along major arterial roads, joint safety inspections of gas and electrical facilities, strengthen quarantine measures against AI (Avian Influenza), ASF (African Swine Fever), and foot-and-mouth disease, prevent forest fires, and implement environmental pollution prevention measures.
Measures to prevent medical service gaps will also be promoted. Although COVID-19 has been reclassified as a Level 4 infectious disease similar to influenza, Jinju City will maintain the operation of screening clinics until the crisis level is downgraded from ‘Alert’ to ‘Caution.’ During the Chuseok holiday, COVID-19 diagnostic testing will be available for suspected cases, and hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies open during the holiday will be designated and posted on the city hall website to minimize medical service gaps.
Price stabilization management during the Chuseok holiday is a top priority, and a price stabilization task force has been operating since August 28 until September 30. In preparation for the Chuseok holiday, price trends and supply conditions for 16 major holiday items, including apples, pears, beef, pork, and croaker, will be surveyed through price monitoring personnel, and price information will be disclosed.
From September 22 to 27, a field inspection team will operate to enforce the price labeling system and intensively crack down on unfair commercial practices, making every effort to manage price stabilization.
In addition, to revitalize the local economy during this difficult period of high prices and high interest rates, the city is issuing the local gift certificate ‘Jinju Sarang Gift Certificate’ and, for the first time among basic local governments, jointly issuing the ‘Jinju-Sancheong Mutual Gift Certificate.’ These can be used in Jinju and Sancheong areas during the Chuseok holiday period, including the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival and the Sancheong World Traditional Medicine Anti-Aging Expo.
To minimize citizen inconveniences during the holiday, the city will operate a field duty team for civil complaints to promptly handle road inconvenience complaints, emergency water leak repairs, timely collection of household waste, and will implement a rotation system for LPG sales points to ensure stable gas supply.
For the convenience of visitors to park cemeteries, a total of 28 personnel, including vehicle guides and traffic control officers, will be deployed around Naedong Park Cemetery and Anrak Park to manage traffic and assist visitors.
Furthermore, in cooperation with various organizations and groups, the city will conduct consolation activities to help social welfare facilities and vulnerable groups have a warm holiday. It will also carry out investigations and inspections related to public service discipline violations, corruption acts related to integrity evaluations, and compliance with the public officials’ code of conduct, especially during the Chuseok holiday atmosphere.
Mayor Cho Gyu-il stated, “We have established and are operating a comprehensive plan to ensure that citizens can have a healthy and comfortable holiday during the Chuseok period. In particular, we will do our best to manage price stabilization so that citizens struggling with high prices can have a comfortable and warm Chuseok holiday.”
