Gwangju Nam-gu Implements Comprehensive Plan for a Safe and Comfortable Chuseok

On the 20th, Nam-gu announced, "We have designated the period until October 3, the Chuseok holiday, as the comprehensive plan implementation period for residents' lives in preparation for Chuseok. We will implement measures in various fields to ensure that returning visitors and residents within the district can have a comfortable holiday."

Additionally, from September 28 to October 3, a six-day period expected to see the highest number of visitors returning to their hometowns, a comprehensive situation room will be operated, along with task forces for disaster response, traffic, environment and cleaning, and medical measures.

First, to provide convenience to visitors returning to their hometowns, illegal parking and stopping will be monitored and controlled in traffic-congested areas, and a traffic inconvenience reporting center will be operated continuously to receive complaints related to public transportation use.

Furthermore, to ensure everyone enjoys the holiday, integrated care services will be provided to vulnerable residents, including meal services during the holiday period. Support for meals for low-income children and care for people with severe disabilities will also be strengthened.

In addition, to stabilize prices, supply conditions and price trends of 32 items including agricultural, fishery, and livestock products as well as daily necessities will be regularly monitored. Measures will also be taken to manage wage arrears and to expedite payments for government-funded construction projects to ensure no workplaces with unpaid wages exist.

Given the extended holiday period, environmental maintenance will be conducted focusing on major gateways and areas with high foot traffic to create a clean and pleasant environment. A special work system for sanitation workers will be maintained to collectively manage waste and other cleaning tasks.

Moreover, the COVID-19 disaster safety headquarters and screening clinics will continue to operate, and efforts will be strengthened for stable supply of fuel energy such as gas, as well as surveillance activities in fire-prone areas.

A Nam-gu official stated, "During the Chuseok holiday, we will meticulously implement measures in each field to ensure that our residents and visitors to our district can spend the holiday comfortably without inconvenience, and we will do our best to make it a happy holiday."
