"Tony Blair is his good seuseung"
As part of its efforts to expand its base, the People Power Party has decided to recruit Assemblyman Jo Jeong-hoon of the Transition Era party, while Shin Pyeong, a lawyer known as "President Yoon Seok-yeol's mentor," shared a commendable story about Assemblyman Jo.
On the 20th, Shin shared on his social media, "One day, while talking with Assemblyman Jo, I had an experience where my head felt a bit dizzy. He said, 'Whenever I take a train, I always buy my ticket with my own money,'" recounting an anecdote about him.
Assembly members have the privilege of receiving free KTX and SRT tickets, but he gave up this privilege.
Shin said, "As you probably know well, in Korea, assembly members can always get train tickets for free. There is no limit on the number of tickets. Even if all seats are taken on the KTX or SRT, a few seats are always reserved for assembly members," adding, "When the assembly office contacts the railway, these good seats are immediately assigned. It is a considerable privilege given to assembly members."
He continued, "Assemblyman Jo quietly and boldly gave up this privilege. He buys train tickets under the same conditions as ordinary people," and "Even this alone is an amazing thing. I have also heard rumors that he differs from ordinary assembly members in many other ways."
Assemblyman Jo is also known to have worked at the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), one of the five major institutions of the World Bank, alongside former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, famous for the 'Third Way.' Shin said, "(Assemblyman Jo) worked at the World Bank for a long time. When he worked in the Palestinian region in the past, he was the deputy head, and the head was former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Having worked together for about three years, Tony Blair can be considered his good mentor."
Meanwhile, Assemblyman Jo officially confirmed his joining the People Power Party during a meeting with reporters the day before, saying, "About ten days ago, the top leadership of the People Power Party proposed to the Transition Era party to create a coalition that embraces both conservatives and centrists," formalizing his entry into the People Power Party.
