On the 20th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will hold the 'Buk-gu Residents' Day Commemoration Ceremony' on the 22nd in celebration of the upcoming Residents' Day.
Buk-gu Residents' Day was designated as September 26th to commemorate the announcement date of the Buk-gu establishment order when Buk-gu celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2020. Since then, the ceremony has been held annually to promote harmony and patriotism among local residents.
This year marks the 4th ceremony, which will be held at the plaza of the National Gwangju Museum from 5:45 PM for 45 minutes, with about 1,000 local residents attending. After the ceremony, the Buk-gu Residents' Autumn Night Concert will follow.
During the ceremony, Buk-gu's newly designed mascots, 'Bukkeu & Bubu,' will be unveiled to the residents for the first time. The 'Residents' Award,' given to exemplary residents who have contributed greatly to regional development, and the 'Tabuk Performance,' wishing for a prosperous Buk-gu, will also take place.
Following the ceremony, the Buk-gu Residents' Autumn Night Concert will feature congratulatory performances by invited singers such as Jeong Dong-won and Nam Seung-min, who will enliven the residents and allow them to enjoy the romance of the autumn night.
Additionally, a photo exhibition titled 'Buk-gu Digital Archive,' featuring about 300 photos on the themes of Buk-gu's birth, transformation, and people, will be held. Various events such as neighborhood promotions and experience booths will also be prepared.
A Buk-gu official stated, "Buk-gu is a righteous city that puts the greater good first, and at its center has always been the residents," adding, "We hope this commemorative event for the proud residents of Buk-gu will enhance their pride and unity and serve as an opportunity to open a new future together."
