Launch of 'Gyeongsan City Labor-Management-Government Council' ... Let's Overcome Confrontational Labor-Management Relations!

The ‘Gyeongsan City Labor-Management-Civil-Government Council,’ jointly participated by the labor sector, management sector, citizens, and Gyeongsan City in the Gyeongsan area, will be launched at 2 p.m. on the 20th at Gyeongsan City Hall.


The ‘Gyeongsan City Labor-Management-Civil-Government Council’ is a consultative body that discovers, deliberates, and advises on local issues, economic matters, and the development of labor-management relations.

Gyeongsan is an industrial hub with a 3 million pyeong industrial complex, 4,383 manufacturing businesses, and 35,055 workers employed. Labor, management, and citizens have come together to create a city where everyone can be happy.


The chairman of the council is Gyeongsan Mayor Cho Hyun-il. The meeting will proceed with the presentation of appointment letters to members, the election of vice-chairpersons, and the reporting and deliberation of agenda items. The necessity of the council, the roles of each party, and the future direction of Gyeongsan City will be discussed.


The ‘Gyeongsan City Labor-Management-Civil-Government Council’ consists of 15 members including the chairman: four labor representatives including Jo In-su, chairman of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Gyeongsan branch; four management representatives including Ahn Tae-young, chairman of the Gyeongsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; four citizens including Son Mal-nam, member of the Gyeongsan City Council; and two officials from the Daegu Regional Labor Office and Gyeongsan City.


The first agenda item adopted for improving the labor environment and establishing a culture of cooperation and coexistence between labor and management is the Gyeongsan City Labor-Management-Civil-Government Joint Declaration. It contains commitments for labor, management, citizens, and government to fulfill their social responsibilities in their respective roles with an attitude of coexistence and cooperation, thereby revitalizing the local economy and stabilizing labor-management relations.


Mayor Cho Hyun-il said, “We must lead the council as a pivotal organization that overcomes confrontational labor-management relations and develops a new paradigm of labor-management relations through cooperation, improving the local labor environment and creating jobs. Especially in difficult times for companies and unions, labor, management, citizens, and government will consider each other and harmonize to foster a culture of mutual growth and realize a future economy city centered on jobs.”
