Songpa-gu Village Bus Service Extended to Jamsil Station and Bukwirye from October

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that starting from 6 a.m. on October 6, all three village bus routes will begin extended operation to improve transportation convenience for residents.

The routes being extended are the three village buses (Songpa01, Songpa02, Songpa03) that were first launched in Songpa-gu last December. ▲ Songpa01 will be extended from the existing Ogeum-dong~Songpa 2-dong~Seokchon Station route to Jamsil Station and Songpa-gu Office ▲ Songpa02 will be extended from Jangji-dong~Munjeong Legal Complex~Suseo Station route to Bukwirye ▲ Songpa03 will be extended from Suseo Station~Samjeon-dong route to Jamsil Station and Songpa-gu Office.

Before implementing the route extensions, the district made efforts to enhance public transportation convenience within the area.

Previously, Mayor Seo Gang-seok made the 'Establishment of Village Buses' a pledge in the 8th local government term and enacted an ordinance on financial support for village buses, enabling the launch of three village bus routes for the first time in Songpa-gu through deficit compensation. In a survey conducted in June this year with 3,150 residents, 86.3% responded that transportation convenience had greatly improved.

In particular, the district listened to additional requests from residents after the launch and promoted the plan to extend all three village bus routes. Through consultations with Seoul City, bus companies, and related organizations, the extended operation will begin simultaneously at 6 a.m. on October 6.

Residents' reactions to the route extensions have been enthusiastic. One resident said, “There was no public transportation from Bukwirye to the high school in Jangji-dong, so my morning commute was inconvenient, but now I’m so happy that there will be a direct village bus route!”

With this route extension, the district expects ▲ residents in Samjeon, Ogeum, and Songpa-dong to travel directly to the district office and Jamsil Station ▲ and for students commuting from Bukwirye to Jangji-dong (Munhyeon High School) to experience greatly improved convenience.

In preparation for a slight increase in intervals between buses on some routes (Songpa02, 03) due to the extension, the district plans to coordinate with transportation companies to concentrate bus dispatches during peak commuting hours to ensure residents do not experience inconvenience.

Starting with this village bus route extension, the district plans to further extend the Songpa01 village bus route to Hanam and Gam-il areas from next year. Additionally, the district is promoting the installation of convenience facilities such as bus stop boarding platforms and BIT (Bus Arrival Information Terminals) within the village bus sections.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “I believe expanding public transportation means transportation welfare for residents. Above all, we will operate village buses with safety as the top priority,” and added, “We will strive to enhance transportation welfare in Songpa-gu so that village buses become a widely used transportation means among many residents.”
