POSCO Future M, First in Domestic Battery Industry to Receive 'ISO 37301' Certification

Enhancing Trust in Compliance Management

POSCO Future M has become the first company in the domestic battery materials industry to obtain the ‘ISO 37301’ certification, an international standard compliance management system.

‘ISO 37301’ is a certification that verifies a company has a compliance management system suitable for the global business environment. It was established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 2021 and grants certification by comprehensively evaluating regulations and guidelines for compliance management.

POSCO Future M passed the certification audit with excellent evaluations as a result of company-wide efforts to establish and operate a compliance management system.

From an ESG management perspective, POSCO Future M has been implementing voluntary compliance, including internal controls and risk assessments, since introducing the Compliance Program (CP) in 2006. In 2019, the company further strengthened its compliance management system by appointing a compliance officer and revising compliance control standards and legal processing guidelines.

POSCO Future M also strives to spread internal consensus on the necessity of compliance management by conducting monthly ethics training by department for all employees and distributing compliance reports containing the latest legal information and policy trends.

As POSCO Future M expands business cooperation through large-scale supply contracts with global battery and automotive companies and the establishment of overseas joint ventures (JVs) in the battery materials business, it expects that obtaining this certification will further enhance trust in the company’s compliance management system among internal and external stakeholders.

Kim Myung-ho, Head of Legal Affairs at POSCO Future M, said, “With the recent trend of strengthening ESG management, the need to establish a corporate compliance system is increasing. We will strive to become the ‘First Mover’ leading the battery materials industry not only in product competitiveness but also in compliance management.”
