Everland and Folk Village Offer Various Attractions
Related Festivals Including 'Yongin Cyber Science Festival' Held Together
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 19th that it will hold the '2023 Yongin Citizen Festa: Gather! Play! Enjoy!' over two days from the 23rd to the 24th at Yongin Mir Stadium to celebrate 'Yongin Citizen's Day.'
The city explained that this event, held under the theme 'Yongin, a semiconductor convergence city leading the future with its citizens,' is organized as a large-scale festival that includes the 'Cyber Science Festival,' 'Youth Festival,' and 'Food Industry Expo.' The event will also feature Yongin’s representative tourist attractions, Everland and the Korean Folk Village.
On the first day, the 23rd, a commemorative ceremony for 'Yongin Citizen's Day' and celebratory performances will take place. The performances include Oh Eun-young’s magic show and barrier-free performances, military band and cheerleaders, Taekwondo, performances prepared by the residents' autonomous associations, pungmulnori (traditional Korean percussion music) and lion dance, Pungmul Hangarak featuring traditional music and dance from the Korean Folk Village, as well as various stages such as a collaboration between the Yongin Municipal Youth Orchestra and violinist Seol Yo-eun.
The festivities and performances for citizens will continue on the second day, the 24th. From 3 p.m. that day, the Yongin Federation of Arts will hold the finals of the 'Yongin Citizen Song Festival.'
At the venue, various booths will be set up, including ▲upcycled coffee grounds keychains ▲sock yarn craft experience by Art Runner ▲safety education through disaster situation experiences using virtual reality (VR) devices ▲Goryeo white porcelain pottery festival ▲Yongin local food direct market ▲idol makeup ▲and the Yongin Citizen Writing Contest.
The linked event, the '23rd Yongin Cyber Science Festival,' will be held for two days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 23rd and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 24th. Attendees can experience future mobility technologies, semiconductor-shaped clock making, VR, augmented reality (AR), drones, robots, and 3D printing-related activities. Additionally, there will be a 'Giant Robot Titan Performance,' a 'Science Magic Show,' and a talk show by Lee Seung-hoon, the world champion of paper airplane aerobatics.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics, which is establishing a large-scale system semiconductor cluster in the Idong and Namsa-eup areas of Cheoin-gu, Yongin, plans to introduce its semiconductor ESG (environmental, social, and governance) activities at this event.
A Yongin city official said, “This year’s 'Yongin Citizen's Day' event has been planned as a large-scale festival featuring high-quality performances by Everland and the Folk Village,” adding, “We expect many citizens to participate as it is a substantial festival prepared to showcase the dazzling development of the city and to be enjoyed by all 1.1 million Yongin citizens.”
