The Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation and the Dream Park Cultural Foundation recently announced on the 19th that they have obtained two patents for technology that uses microorganisms to manage golf courses in an eco-friendly way.
These patents involve technology that uses microorganisms present in the Dream Park Golf Course to prevent turf diseases that kill the grass and to promote the decomposition of clippings between the grass, thereby suppressing the occurrence of pests and diseases.
Typically, chemical pesticides are heavily used for turf management, which can cause side effects such as residual toxicity, soil acidification, and water pollution. The patents obtained by the Landfill Site Management Corporation this time are technologies that reduce these side effects and enable eco-friendly turf management.
Since 2018, the Landfill Site Management Corporation, together with the Dream Park Cultural Foundation, which is entrusted with the course management of Dream Park Golf Course, has been investigating microorganisms present in the golf course soil to discover and cultivate microorganisms useful for turf management. After continuous field experiments and verification studies, they applied for the patent in 2021 and recently completed the patent registration.
A representative of the Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation said, "The six years of effort have led to the good result of obtaining the patent," adding, "We will continue to strive to manage Dream Park Golf Course in an eco-friendly manner."
