Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced that the "28th Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival" will be held for three days from October 13 to 15 at the Amsa-dong archaeological site area in Seoul (875 Olympic-ro, Gangdong-gu).

First held in 1996, the Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival, now in its 28th year, is the only festival in Seoul themed around the prehistoric era and is a representative festival of Gangdong-gu, which has a deep history even within Seoul.

This year, the district plans to present the festival under the theme "Prehistory:hada," a wordplay combining the meaning of "a gift to the residents" and "prehistory," offering fresh and interesting content and various events that the whole family can enjoy, aiming to deliver the excitement of the festival to the residents.

On the first day of the festival, October 13, the opening ceremony will feature celebratory performances by ▲national diva Insooni ▲the three-member male vocal group V.O.S ▲girl group Signature, raising the atmosphere and officially kicking off the festival.

On the second day, October 14, visitors will be greeted with various attractions and entertainment, including ▲eye-catching circus performances and street art performances filling the venue ▲the Gangdong Prehistoric Singing Contest, where Gangdong residents can freely showcase their hidden talents.

On the final day, October 15, from 8 PM, the closing celebration concert will take place on the main stage, featuring passionate performances by ▲the powerful rock band Buhwal ▲vocal performance group Ulala Session ▲dance trot queen Seo Ji-o, followed by a fireworks show that will brilliantly conclude the Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival.

The most anticipated program of this festival, the "Prehistoric Scavenger Hunt," is a family participation experience program where participants follow mission maps to trace the footsteps of prehistoric people left within the archaeological site, find missing pieces, and solve secrets. Introduced for the first time this year, it promises an exciting adventure time for children.

In addition, there are various programs that residents can directly participate in, such as "Prehistoric Silent Yoga," "Primitive Diet," "Neolithic Archaeology Experience School," "Neolithic Primitive Performance," and "Rest (休) Time," offering continuous diverse content throughout the festival for a unique experience that feels like traveling back in time.

On one side of the venue, the "Bittonchide Park," themed around water, fire, earth, and wind, has been created, allowing visitors to enjoy the festival and take a moment to heal and rest in the forest. Utilizing the four elements of comb-pattern pottery, the park features experiential programs and sculptures such as ▲a water mist forest path themed on "water" ▲a bushcraft experience themed on "fire" ▲walking on a loess path themed on "earth" ▲a wind art exhibition themed on "wind," providing a space to rest without boredom. Additionally, food booths and food trucks will operate, allowing visitors to stay longer and enjoy various festival delights.

Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "In the cool autumn, we will offer a special experience traveling back 6,000 years to the prehistoric era," and added, "We hope families come to the Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival, where historical value and stories come alive, and fully experience the charm of Gangdong-gu."
