Support for Collaboration Among Tourism Startups, Local Governments, and Travel Industry from 18 to 22
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 18th that it will hold the '2023 Tourism Enterprise Connection Week,' which supports collaboration and growth of tourism ventures, both online and offline, in partnership with the Korea Tourism Organization.
Now in its third year, the 2023 Tourism Enterprise Connection Week is themed "Participation, Connection, Innovation: K-Tourism 2030." It will take place from the 19th to the 22nd at the official website, Cafe Camp Tong in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and the Korea Tourism Organization Seoul Center.
On the 19th, following the opening ceremony, the 'Tourism Insight Conference' will be held. Speakers include Lee Yong-kwan, CEO of Bluepoint Partners; Cho Young-tae, Director of the Population Policy Research Center at Seoul National University; Jung Sung-joon, CEO of Mr. Mansion; and Lee Junho, Vice Chairman of the Regional Innovation Open Innovation Forum. They will conduct lectures and panel talks on the theme of "Population Issues and Tourism."
On the 20th, the event will focus on "Hospitality Collaboration." The morning conference will feature representatives from OTA Insight, a global hospitality research company, Interpark Triple, Trip.com, and Marriott International, who will discuss prospects for the hospitality and inbound (foreigners traveling domestically) markets. In the afternoon business briefing session, tourism companies such as Onda, DoWhat, Rubook, and Hotel in Network will present digital technology applications for workforce management and profitability improvement in the hotel industry.
On the 21st, an investment attraction event will be held. Following a lecture titled "This is How Tourism Enterprise Investment Works," six promising tourism venture companies will have the opportunity to participate in an investor relations (IR) session to seize growth opportunities.
On the 22nd, a corporate briefing and investment consultation for K-tourism ventures will be conducted targeting Taiwan’s Sanfu Travel Group and the investment firm SparkLabs Venture Taiwan.
Additionally, the event will include ▲'Tourism Venture Alumni' for cooperation between senior and junior tourism venture companies ▲'Tourism Venture Women Leadership Lecture' for female entrepreneurs ▲'Regional Tourism Innovation Forum' to foster local tourism enterprises.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization will also operate a 'Tourism Technology Experience Center' linked to the tourism industry job fair held at COEX starting on the same day. Technology-based tourism ventures such as The Service Platform, which possesses VAT refund digital platform technology, and Robotis, a specialist in autonomous driving robots, will participate to introduce new services and conduct recruitment activities for business expansion.
Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran stated, "Enduring the COVID-19 crisis, our society has rediscovered the meaning of participation and connection. We expect tourism enterprises to provide creative insights into the regional population extinction issues that not only future generations but also the current generation face." She added, "Just as our tourism venture companies are creating successful cases of overseas expansion based on cooperation with domestic partners, we will support the commercialization of private creativity, dynamism, and free imagination and help them grow through various cooperative institutions."
Lee Jae-hwan, Vice President of the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "Innovative ideas from tourism startups led by the 2030 generation will enable the domestic tourism industry to achieve a new leap forward. The organization will continue to strive to establish a sustainable growth foundation for tourism enterprises by providing a collaborative platform where various companies can participate."
