The Ministry of Justice held the Prosecutors' Personnel Committee meeting at 2 p.m. at the Government Complex Gwacheon to discuss promotion and transfer proposals for senior prosecutors (deputy chiefs and chief prosecutors).

The Prosecutors' Personnel Committee is an organization that deliberates on the principles and standards for the appointment and transfer of prosecutors according to the Prosecutors' Office Act. Following this meeting, it is expected to announce the personnel decisions and the date of implementation.

Inside and outside the prosecution, attention is focused on the appointment of the 4th Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, who will be responsible for major special investigations such as the 'Baekhyeon-dong Development Project Favoritism Allegation' involving Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, the 'Ssangbangwool Group North Korea Remittance Allegation,' the '2021 Democratic Party Convention Money Envelope Allegation,' and the 'Presidential Election Interference Public Opinion Manipulation Allegation.'

Considering the continuity of investigations in the recent appointment of senior prosecutors (high prosecutors and chief prosecutors) on the 4th, Song Kyung-ho, head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (age 53, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 29), was retained, making it highly likely that the current 4th Deputy Chief, Ko Hyung-gon (age 53, class 31), will also be retained. Attention is also on the appointments of the 1st Deputy Chief, who leads various criminal investigations, and the 3rd Deputy Chief, who will oversee election-related investigations around next year's general elections. The previous 1st Deputy Chief, Sung Sang-heon (age 50, class 30), and 3rd Deputy Chief, Park Ki-dong (age 51, class 30), were promoted to chief prosecutor-level positions as head of the Planning and Coordination Department and head of the Public Investigation Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, respectively, leaving these positions vacant.

The head of the Seongnam branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, currently investigating the 'Jeongja-dong Hotel Development Project Favoritism Allegation' involving Lee Jae-myung, and the newly established and reorganized position of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's Narcotics and Organized Crime Planning Officer, which has not been separately appointed since May, are also key personnel appointment targets.
