On the 18th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that the second supplementary budget, amounting to 1.1056 trillion KRW, which is an increase of 40 billion KRW compared to the previous supplementary budget, has been finalized.
Earlier, Buk-gu prepared the second supplementary budget plan in August, and after 15 days of review and approval by the Buk-gu Council from the 4th, the budget size was finally confirmed on the 18th.
Buk-gu’s second supplementary budget was formulated with a focus on adjusting unnecessary current expenses to prepare for worsening local financial conditions, overcoming domestic and international circumstances threatening livelihoods such as various disasters and economic crises, and enhancing resident convenience through key district administration issues.
In particular, the budget prioritized disaster safety measures, including ▲30 billion KRW for installing stormwater detention facilities around Munheung-dong Catholic Church ▲600 million KRW for installing automatic barriers in flood-prone areas during summer ▲340 million KRW for disaster relief related to heavy rain and typhoon damage.
Additionally, in the fields of revitalizing the local economy and supporting vulnerable groups, the budget includes ▲1.2 billion KRW for temporary special support for youth monthly rent ▲370 million KRW for expanding youth autonomous spaces ▲220 million KRW for special guarantees and card fee support for small business owners.
Furthermore, the budget for key district administration projects aimed at resident convenience was increased, including ▲2.8 billion KRW for the establishment of Unam Complex Cultural and Sports Center ▲1.8 billion KRW for the creation of HOPE STREET ▲1.23 billion KRW for the construction of Ssamsi Parking Lot ▲830 million KRW for green remodeling of national and public daycare centers ▲260 million KRW for improving living environments in Geumdang Saetteul Village ▲150 million KRW for the creation of Citizen’s Soseum-gil trail.
A Nam-gu official stated, "With the supplementary budget finalized, we will concentrate all our capabilities to ensure that the budget for key projects is promptly executed, prioritizing the resolution of livelihood difficulties."
