Gwangju Nam-gu Hosts Direct Trade Market for Agricultural Specialties with 7 Local Governments

On the 18th, Nam-gu announced that it will hold the 2023 agricultural and specialty products direct transaction market to promote mutual friendship through win-win cooperation and expanded exchanges between local governments that have sister city agreements.

This market was prepared to provide a place where Gwangju citizens can purchase agricultural and specialty products at affordable prices by revitalizing direct transactions between producers and consumers, and it will be held from the 23rd of this month until the end of October around the Penguin Village Craft Street area in Yangnim-dong.

The meeting between local agricultural and specialty products and consumers in the Gwangju area will take place four times in total, starting with the first opening on the 23rd, followed by the 24th of the same month, and October 15th and October 29th.

The local governments participating in the direct transaction market are Yeonggwang-gun, Boseong-gun, Damyang-gun, Jindo-gun, Naju-si, Jangheung-gun in Jeollanam-do, and Imsil-gun in Jeollabuk-do, with 14 companies selling agricultural and specialty products from each region participating.

The local governments participating in the direct transaction market vary by date, and detailed information can be found on the Nam-gu Office website.

As for regional agricultural and specialty products, Yeonggwang offers dried yellow corvina and moshi leaf songpyeon, Boseong-gun presents eggs and red pepper powder, and Damyang-gun showcases traditional Korean sweets, sesame oil, red pepper paste, and bamboo shoots.

Jindo-gun sells Hongju chocolate, Hongju highball, and abalone soy sauce to consumers, while Naju-si and Jangheung-gun supply sikhye and various sauces, as well as gimbugak, shiitake mushroom slices, and fresh shiitake powder, respectively.

Imsil-gun, the only local government participating from the Jeonbuk area, sells dairy products and agricultural products.

A Nam-gu official said, "Through direct transactions of local agricultural and specialty products, consumers can purchase excellent products at affordable prices, and sellers can meet consumers without intermediate distribution processes, which benefits both parties," adding, "It is expected that the residents' awareness of exchange projects with sister cities will also increase."
