‘Gumi Video Media Center’ Opens … New Media Cultural Space Established
‘Gumi Food Festival’ and ‘Gumi Ramyeon Festival’ Enjoyed by the Whole Family
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk is making every effort to realize a "romantic cultural city of Gumi where everyday life becomes happiness" and to create an attractive cultural city.
The Gumi Video Media Center is scheduled to open in October, and unique events such as the "2nd Gumi Food Festival" and the "2023 Gumi Ramen Festival" will be held.

The nightscape lighting along Geumo Stream, installed in spring to coincide with the cherry blossom blooming period, made the cherry blossoms under the moonlight even more beautiful and created a romantic atmosphere. The silhouette of the Geumo Stream retaining wall blends harmoniously, providing visitors with a visual treat. The lighting changes colors in red, blue, purple, and more, making it a representative walking course in Gumi.
Since the opening of the underground parking lot behind Gumi Station in July, Georidan-gil has been bustling with young visitors. Busking performances held in various spots enhance the atmosphere, making Georidan-gil even more romantic. The area is filled with diverse items such as food and beverages, clothing, home interior accessories, and handmade products, attracting the attention of visitors.

The Gumi Video Media Center, completed in March this year, will open on October 6. Established as an educational and cultural space essential in the new media era (YouTube, SNS, OTT), the center is equipped with facilities such as a one-person media room, radio studio, screening room, editing room, and classrooms, and is currently in pilot operation.
After opening, it plans to offer media education, facility rentals, equipment loans, and film screenings, providing citizens with opportunities to engage socially and culturally through media.
Additionally, the city is leasing the third floor of Geumo Market to create the Gumi Youth Imagination Maru. It is recruiting 12 resident artists in the visual arts field (including those from outside the area, with residency in Gumi City required). They will reside there for 2 years and 1 month from December 1, 2023, to December 31, 2025. The Geumo Market area, which has suffered from commercial decline and slumification, is expected to be reborn soon as a cultural entertainment space.

The 2nd Gumi Food Festival will be held for two days starting October 28 at the Songjeong Covered Stream parking lot. It will exhibit themed meals related to President Park Chung-hee and various works by Korean cuisine masters. The food zone, with participation from over 70 restaurants, will stimulate citizens’ taste buds with about 200 different menu items.
As part of the Songjeong Matwoolrim Cultural Street project, handcrafted beer made using Gumi rice, developed targeting the MZ generation, will be introduced, along with wheat bread products produced in Gumi. Especially, programs for children and teenagers will be strengthened, making it a representative food festival in Gumi that the whole family can enjoy together.

This November! Gumi Station Road will transform into a ramen theme park. The "2023 Gumi Ramen Festival" will be held for three days from November 17 around Gumi Station. The festival area will extend from Gumi Culture Road to Georidan-gil and Saemaeul Central Market, featuring themes such as △ “Don’t Miss Ramen!” Ramen Stage (performances) △ Ramen Theme Plaza (ramen food and drink zone) △ “Enjoy Ramen!” Ramen Road (exhibition and experience programs).
In the ramen food and drink zone, visitors will be able to taste unique ramen from local restaurants as well as various noodle dishes from Gumi’s sister and friendship cities around the world.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “We will prepare the Gumi Food Festival and Gumi Ramen Festival to become representative festivals that attract visitors nationwide by embodying the taste and charm of Gumi, and create a vibrant romantic cultural city where everyday life becomes happiness.”
