National Tax Service Launches 'National Tax Notice ARS Easy Inquiry' Service

From now on, with just one phone call, you will be able to check a total of 26 types of national tax notices, including interim payments for comprehensive income tax, preliminary notices for value-added tax, and comprehensive real estate tax.

The National Tax Service announced that it will implement the 'National Tax Notice ARS Simple Inquiry' service starting on the 18th to facilitate tax payments for digitally vulnerable groups such as the elderly and people with disabilities.

An official from the National Tax Service explained, "Since South Korea entered an aged society in 2017, the elderly population has continued to increase, and the number of taxpayers aged 60 and over is also steadily rising. This service is available to all individual taxpayers, including the elderly and digitally vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities."

Through the simple inquiry service, after completing identity verification, users can check not only the amount of tax to be paid but also any outstanding national tax arrears. Users can receive a virtual account number via text message on their mobile phones and pay the relevant national taxes through internet banking or banks.

The simple inquiry service does not allow users to check records of taxes that have been fully paid. Only national tax notice details with unpaid tax amounts or arrears at the time of inquiry can be viewed. Taxes voluntarily reported by taxpayers can be checked through Hometax or the Hometax app (Sontax). To protect tax data, mobile phone authentication is required, so only individual taxpayers (including sole proprietors) can use this service; corporate taxpayers cannot use it.
