LG Energy Solution Employees' First Overseas Volunteer Work... Improving Housing Conditions in Indonesia's Wajanaya Village

LG Energy Solution embarked on its first overseas volunteer activity with employees to practice a 'sharing culture that delivers love to neighbors.'

From the 10th to the 15th of last month, LG Energy Solution announced that 50 employees participated in volunteer activities to improve housing conditions in Wajanaya village, Karawang city, Indonesia, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Korea, an international nonprofit housing welfare organization.

Located about 70 km southeast of the capital Jakarta, Wajanaya village lacks social infrastructure such as schools and medical facilities. Most residents live in housing made from bamboo and straw, making them vulnerable to natural disasters like typhoons and floods.

LG Energy Solution employees engaged in renovation and construction activities to create safe and clean housing environments for local residents. They carried out various construction volunteer tasks such as ground leveling, framework work, and bricklaying. They also contributed to establishing eco-friendly and safe housing by utilizing eco-blocks (bricks) made from recycled plastic.

An LG Energy Solution employee who participated in the volunteer work said, “The Karawang area in Indonesia is a meaningful place where LG Energy Solution’s production plant is being built. Although the time was short, I was very happy and proud to work alongside local residents and participate in making a better world.”

Reflecting the voices of employees who wish to experience various volunteer activities overseas, LG Energy Solution signed an agreement with Habitat for Humanity Korea in May and prepared for this activity.

An LG Energy Solution official stated, “The culture of sharing love with neighbors is one of the six key tasks of LG Energy Solution’s organizational culture. As a global leading company, we will continue to fulfill our social responsibilities and expand volunteer activities that allow our members to practice genuine sharing opportunities.”
