Music&New Collaborates with Naver Webtoon to Boost Music Content Business

Music & New, the music business subsidiary of content media group NEW (Next Entertainment World), announced on the 18th that it will strengthen cooperation with Naver Webtoon to revitalize its music business centered on webtoon OSTs. Based on the IP (intellectual property) of Naver Webtoon, which was pre-agreed upon by both parties, they plan to present diverse music content for webtoon fans, including ▲ OSTs optimized for each story and character ▲ lyric videos using original artwork ▲ audio content featuring vocal artists.

Music & New will collaborate with Naver Webtoon to maximize the added value of content utilizing original IP, leveraging its expertise in planning and producing numerous popular drama OSTs, from the chart-topping 'Descendants of the Sun' to the recent hit 'Doctor Cha Jeong-sook.' The first project in which Music & New participates in OST production and distribution is the new Naver Webtoon 'Sanae Yeonae Sajul! (written by Dubu / illustrated by Namsu).' Subsequently, they are jointly planning and producing OSTs for 'Killer Badro' and 'Daechung Campus Romance Im.'

Going forward, the two companies will continue to release content that harmonizes story, visuals, and music by utilizing webtoon IP, allowing webtoons to be enjoyed in more diverse ways. Kim Ki-tae, director of Music & New, stated, “By organically collaborating with Naver Webtoon from the pre-production stage, we will maximize immersion and present highly complete music content that can depict the story of webtoon works through music.” He added, “Furthermore, we hope to contribute to the expansion of the K-pop market through the synergy of webtoons and music IP.”
