Gangnam-gu Hosts Social Economy Expo...Targeting MZ Generation at Gangnam Station

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the '2023 Gangnam-gu Social Economy Expo' on the 23rd from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Gangnam Square (in front of Exit 11 of Gangnam Station).

Social economy enterprises are companies that contribute to solving social problems by providing services or jobs to vulnerable groups while engaging in economic activities. These include social enterprises, cooperatives, village enterprises, and self-support enterprises. There are a total of 455 such companies in Gangnam-gu (as of August 1, 2023). Through this expo, the district aims to widely promote the value of social economy enterprises and showcase and sell their excellent products.

The expo will operate a total of 30 booths. Visitors can find ▲a promotional hall featuring five organizations including the Gangnam-gu Social Economy Promotion and Support Center ▲20 sales booths selling outstanding products such as accessories, alpaca dolls, candles, diffusers, scarves, and flowers ▲and five experience booths where attendees can try life planning, tarot reading, flower therapy, and natural oils.

In particular, this event will focus marketing efforts on the younger generation in Gangnam-daero, a high foot traffic area. Using cute characters, short-form promotional videos will be produced and broadcast on 18 media poles installed around Gangnam Station to attract the attention of young people.

Various events designed to captivate the MZ generation will also be held. Students from Hallim Performing Arts High School will perform flash mobs and dance shows. There will be a four-shot photo booth, a social economy-related quiz event, and a dice game where participants roll the dice and receive prizes if they get 'YES' or 'Gangnam.'

In connection with this event, a Naver Shopping live commerce was held on September 4. Barun Meokgeori School Co., Ltd., the only village enterprise in Gangnam-gu, promoted handmade gangjeong (Korean traditional sweets) and fruit syrups, achieving 6,000 views and effective publicity.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We hope this expo will help promote the products of social economy enterprises and assist in opening new sales channels. We will support the foundation for local companies that are working with interest in various social issues to grow.”
