In France, where the iPhone 12 was suspended from sales due to electromagnetic waves exceeding the standard, the Ministry of Science and ICT has also decided to conduct a detailed verification.
On the 17th, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced, "We have secured four models of the iPhone 12 and plan to conduct a detailed verification to determine whether they meet technical standards and disclose the results."
On the 12th, the French National Frequency Agency (ANFR) tested the rate of electromagnetic wave absorption by the body for 141 mobile phones distributed in the domestic market and revealed that the iPhone 12 absorbed electromagnetic waves exceeding the standard (4.0W/kg) at 5.74W/kg. They also ordered the suspension of sales of the model and corrective actions for the distributed products.
The Ministry of Science and ICT stated, "All mobile phones currently distributed domestically, including the iPhone 12, meet international standards related to electromagnetic wave safety and have received conformity assessment certification. To alleviate public concerns, on the 13th, immediately after understanding the situation, we requested Apple, the manufacturer, to report the related situation in accordance with Article 58-11 (Report of Nonconformity) of the Radio Waves Act."
If the re-verification results show that electromagnetic waves exceed the standard, the Ministry of Science and ICT will issue a corrective order to Apple according to the Radio Waves Act and may decide to suspend the import and sale of the iPhone 12.
