Youth-Organized Dongdaemun-gu Youth Festival 'Dongcheongje' Successfully Concludes on the 16th
Pre-Programs Held from the 11th, Featuring Various Events and Celebration Performances on the Day of the Festival
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held the ‘Dongdaemun-gu Youth Festival (Dongcheongje)’ on the 16th at the main stadium of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, targeting youth and local residents.
This event, held in celebration of the legal memorial day ‘Youth Day’ (the third Saturday of September every year), was a youth festival directly planned by the 4th committee members of the ‘Dongdaemun-gu Youth Policy Network,’ representing the youth of Dongdaemun-gu, from the event slogan to the programs. It was co-hosted by Dongdaemun-gu and the campus towns of three universities (Kyung Hee University, University of Seoul, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies).
‘Dongcheongje’ was conducted with pre-events and the main event to encourage more youth participation. The pre-events, held from the 11th to the 15th, provided various cultural experiences for youth and promoted youth spaces in the district. These were held at locations such as DDM Youth Startup Center Unicorn, Dongdaemun Orang, and De Gande Me, with themes of employment, hobbies, and healing, offering ▲employment special lectures ▲one-day classes ▲startup special lectures ▲traditional Korean medicine experiences.
The main event started at 12 PM with a startup talk show, followed by the operation of the ‘Dongcheongje Booth Zone’ from 1 PM, featuring promotional booths introducing youth spaces and startup companies, flea markets, and food trucks. From 4 PM, the ‘Dongcheongje Concert’ was held, brilliantly concluding the festival.
At the ‘Dongcheongje Booth Zone,’ seven youth spaces located in the district were introduced, including ▲Baek Gwang-heum Studio ▲Youth Mall Nuridal Hanbok Workshop ▲Bonette ▲Hwik ▲Dongdaemun Orang ▲Kkum Dream, with experiential events held at each space. Eight youth startup teams, including resident companies at DDM Youth Startup Center Unicorn such as Adora Live and campus town resident companies like Game Over, promoted related products and services and held various events.
The ‘Dongcheongje Concert,’ which marked the finale of the event, began with pre-performance by four youth clubs, including the Out-of-School Youth Support Center Kkum Dream and clubs from Kyung Hee University, University of Seoul, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and concluded with congratulatory performances by invited singers CLC Ye-eun and Wonstein.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I thank the campus town officials who enriched the festival and the Dongcheong Network committee members and many youth who worked hard to prepare the event,” adding, “Dongdaemun-gu is promoting various projects to create ‘Dongdaemun where youth grow and envision tomorrow,’ and I hope this festival held in celebration of Youth Day will be an opportunity to nurture hope for the future.”
