Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gil-seong) will hold a market in front of the Jung-gu Office plaza from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 21-22 to provide residents with high-quality agricultural and specialty products directly shipped from production areas at affordable prices and to help farmers secure sales channels ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
This is the first direct transaction market held in Jung-gu in six years since 2017.
The market will feature 29 companies from 16 cities and counties including Pocheon and Yeoju in Gyeonggi Province, Buan and Muju in Jeonbuk, Jangseong in Jeonnam, and Mungyeong in Gyeongbuk. They will showcase 183 high-quality and fresh specialty products representing each region, such as Makgeolli from Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province; autumn male crabs and gizzard shad from Buan, Jeonbuk; honey and cabbage kimchi from Jangseong, Jeonnam; Omija syrup from Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk; Hanwoo beef from Hoengseong, Gangwon Province; and Dongchunghacho, shiitake mushrooms, and oyster mushrooms from Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province. Jungbu Market in Jung-gu, famous for dried seafood, will also sell anchovies and other products.
Products can be purchased at prices 10-30% lower than market prices, and card payments and Onnuri gift certificates are accepted. Special sales of Hoengseong Hanwoo beef and Mungyeong Omija syrup will take place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
Kim Gil-seong, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, “With rising prices ahead of Chuseok, preparing holiday meals has become quite a burden. Despite the difficult economic situation, we have prepared this direct transaction market so residents can purchase high-quality agricultural and marine products at affordable prices as a way to encourage them. We hope everyone visits the market and prepares a bountiful Chuseok table.”
