An official of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) who engaged in a physical altercation with the police during the general strike rally of the Railway Workers' Union was arrested in flagrante delicto.
On the 16th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul arrested Cho Yong-hyun, Director of the Organization and Dispute Department of the KCTU, on charges of obstructing official duties at the general strike rally of the Korean Railway Workers' Union (Railway Workers' Union).
According to the police and the Railway Workers' Union, Cho participated in the Railway Workers' Union general strike rally at around 3:10 p.m. on that day at Namyeong Samgeori Boulevard in Yongsan. When the Railway Workers' Union used smoke bombs emitting red smoke as a performance, the police stopped them for safety reasons. It is reported that Cho protested and clashed with the police.
