Gachon University Attracts 76,264 Applicants for Next Year's Early Admission... 23:1 Competition Ratio Ranks 2nd Nationwide Gachon University

Gachon University closed the application period for the '2024 Academic Year Early Admission' on the 15th, recording a competition rate of 23 to 1 with 76,264 applicants for 3,314 available spots. This ranks second nationwide in terms of the number of applicants among universities.


Looking at the detailed application results, the Department of Cloud Engineering, the first contract department in the field of cloud computing, attracted 945 applicants for 7 spots through the essay screening, achieving the highest competition rate of 135 to 1.


Gachon University established the Department of Cloud Engineering this year through a contract department operation agreement while discussing the introduction of Kakao Enterprise and Kakao Cloud.


Additionally, the Department of Medicine recorded a high competition rate of 49.5 to 1 with 990 applicants for 20 spots through the Gachon Medical Admission track. The Student Excellence track had 128 applicants for 5 spots, resulting in a competition rate of 25.6 to 1, and the Rural (Curriculum) track had 24 applicants for 1 spot, recording a 24 to 1 competition rate.


The Department of Korean Medicine saw 323 applicants for 10 spots through the Gachon Medical Admission track, a competition rate of 32.3 to 1, and 203 applicants for 5 spots in the Student Excellence track, resulting in a 40.6 to 1 competition rate. The Rural (Curriculum) track had 17 applicants for 1 spot, recording a 17 to 1 competition rate.


The Department of Pharmacy recorded a competition rate of 68.7 to 1 with 824 applicants for 12 spots through the Gachon Medical Admission track, 36.7 to 1 with 110 applicants for 3 spots in the Student Excellence track, 17 to 1 with 51 applicants for 3 spots in the Equal Educational Opportunity track, and 22 to 1 with 22 applicants for 1 spot in the Rural (Curriculum) track.


President Gil-yeo Lee of Gachon University stated, "The rapid development since the university integration and the efforts to nurture talent in advanced industrial fields seem to have been reflected in the expectations of applicants and parents during the early admission application process." He added, "We will strive to meet these expectations by fostering talents who will excel on the global stage."
