North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un inspected Russia's major strategic weapons, including hypersonic missiles, together with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on the 16th.
According to Russian news agency TASS and others, Chairman Kim and Minister Shoigu examined key equipment of the Russian Aerospace Forces at the Knevichi military airfield near Vladivostok International Airport in Russia's Primorsky Krai on the same day.
Minister Shoigu showcased the hypersonic missile system "Kinzhal" to Chairman Kim. The Kinzhal, one of Russia's major strategic weapons, is an advanced missile known to fly at speeds exceeding five times the speed of sound. Following this, Chairman Kim also toured three long-range strategic bombers. These bombers, capable of carrying nuclear weapons, constitute the aerial component of Russia's nuclear forces. Sergey Kobilash, Commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces Long-Range Aviation, introduced the combat capabilities of the Kinzhal and the bombers to Chairman Kim and Minister Shoigu.
After inspecting the Knevichi airfield, Chairman Kim and Minister Shoigu moved to the Marshal Shaposhnikov anti-submarine escort ship of the Vladivostok Pacific Fleet. Chairman Kim is visiting Russia at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
