Yong Hye-in "Kim Haeng Appointment, Concerns Over a Second Jamboree Incident"

"Only Interested in Eliminating the Buddha"
"Shin Won-sik, Is This Acceptable in a Democratic Republic?"

President Yoon Suk-yeol's nomination of Kim Haeng, former Emergency Response Committee member of the People Power Party, as the Minister of Gender Equality and Family on the 13th has raised concerns from Yong Hye-in, co-representative of the Basic Income Party, who warned of a "second Jamboree incident."

On the 15th, during KBS's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs,' Representative Yong said, "(Candidate Kim) said he would 'exit dramatically,' which is not a message about striving for the development of the ministry or efforts for women, youth, elderly, or other minorities in our society, but rather talking about the day his own duties will end from the very first day."

Candidate Kim, upon arriving at the personnel hearing preparation office the previous day, responded to reporters' questions about the possible abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family by firmly stating his intention to maintain the abolition policy, saying he would "exit dramatically."

However, the mindset focused solely on abolishing the ministry could lead to a second Jamboree fiasco. Representative Yong criticized the statement, saying, "The Jamboree was a major international event that had been prepared for a very long time, but there is no interest in such matters, only in abolishing the ministry, so how could the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family's work proceed well? The result of that was the fiasco of the last Jamboree."

Regarding Defense Minister nominee Shin Won-sik's remarks such as "May 16 was a great revolution from a civilizational perspective" and "The first demon who gave birth to today's demon Moon Jae-in was Roh Moo-hyun," Representative Yong questioned, "Are these words acceptable in a democratic republic?" He added, "Recently, some ruling party members have said, based on a report from a certain media outlet, that this is 'a national disgrace punishable by death.' I believe these statements could be evaluated as anti-state forces."

He expressed concern, saying, "Starting with President Yoon Suk-yeol's March 1st Independence Movement Day commemorative speech this year, there have been continuous debates related to history, including the controversy over General Hong Beom-do's bust. These historical controversies and ideological struggles seem to reflect the Yoon government’s firm intention to push forward, which is now revealed through the nomination of Representative Shin Won-sik as minister."
