Encouraging 20 Transportation Companies to Focus Operations During Commute Hours
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 15th that it has taken measures to minimize commuting inconveniences caused by the nationwide railway union strike by deploying reserve buses and preparing alternative transportation options.
The city explained that due to the strike, some sections of the Suin-Bundang Line passing through the Yongin area have been suspended or shortened, raising concerns about inconvenience to citizens.
To minimize citizen inconvenience, the city sent official letters to 15 local transportation companies requesting the urgent deployment of reserve vehicles to increase route buses during peak commuting hours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The city also sent official letters to five taxi companies, including the Yongin City Private Taxi Association and Yongin Transportation, urging them to operate taxis intensively during these hours.
Additionally, the city plans to provide updates on the railway strike status on the city’s website, blog, and the Yongin Light Rail Transit website.
A city official stated, “We ask citizens to check in advance whether train operations are suspended and to use alternative transportation to avoid inconvenience.”
